The BC offer is a broad one, encompassing products and services for a wide range of industries at every stage of the evaluation, research, product development, product trial and manufacturing processes.
BC is pleased to announce contracts from the DTI and EPSRC to seek added value from rapeseed meal, a co-product of biodiesel production. A consortium of 11 partners operating in sectors as diverse as fuel additives to skin care will test a range of components to be extracted from the meal. Olga Tverezovskaya, project manager at BC said, "This is an excellent opportunity to derive new uses from an agricultural co-product. The consortium we have assembled is well placed to deliver exciting new products to the market"
Following a highly successful series of 10 European Panel Products Symposia, BC launches the International Panel Products Symposium. The event will be held in Cardiff on 17-19 October 2007. Conference organiser, Ceri Loxton, said, "A natural evolution of EPPS, IPPS will set the benchmark for dissemination of wood based panels activity around the globe." The conference organisers have opened a call for papers covering the themes of fundamental principles, global market & supply chain, process control & improvement, environmental solutions and the built environment.
We are pleased to announce that the Third European Conference on Wood Modification will be held in Cardiff at the Angel Hotel on 15-16 October 2007. The conference will run back-to-back with the International Panel Products Symposium and will allow delegates of both conferences to expand their knowledge of these complementary subject areas. The European Conference on Wood Modification is now firmly established, having previously been hosted in Ghent (2003) and in Göttingen (2005). The conference will cover thermal, oleothermal, mechanothermal, chemical and impregnation modifications. Other technologies such as microwave, rf plasma and enzyme treatments will also be presented. The call for papers and further details about the conference are now available at www.ecwm3.com.
BC is pleased to announce the launch of a unique product development facility, BC Tech Transfer - a Technology Transfer Centre (TTC).
TTC is an up-scale product development facility where applied science is turned into market leading, innovative new products. Staffed by the most experienced team in the country, with a wealth of knowledge in the use of biomaterials in functional, practical applications, this purpose built unit on the Isle of Anglesey operates as a proving ground for the commercial viability of new technologies before their final release to market.
The centre has invested over £550,000 on unique equipment, such as the pressurised refiner, hot press, pilot scale ozonisation plant and a 50 litre reaction vessel, to be the most dedicated facility for the promotion and development of materials of benefit to the low carbon economy.
